We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Mobile Area Cleaning Manager to join our Northampton school’s account. This role is based on-site although you will need to hold a UK driving licence to travel to your assigned schools. The salary is dependent on experience. The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week – Monday – Friday (flexible start and finish times dependent on requirements).

We deliver 24/7 services with minimal disruption, working in partnership to maintain high standards.

The Cleaning Manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising all cleaning activities across the school sites to maintain a safe, hygienic, and welcoming learning environment. The role ensures that all areas, classrooms, communal areas, toilets, sports facilities, and specialist spaces meet the contractual cleaning KPIs and compliance standards suitable for a school setting.

You will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing daily cleaning operations across the school sites within your remit.
  • Developing cleaning schedules around school activities and timetables.
  • Minimising complaints by ensuring service delivery in line with contractual cleaning KPIs.
  • Ensuring deep cleaning is completed during school holidays or when required, as per schedule agreed with client.
  • Responding promptly to urgent cleaning requests such as spillages or illness incidents.
  • Supervising and supporting cleaning staff, including planning rotas and allocating duties.
  • Managing staff performance in line with Amey HR policy and procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with Amey’s COSHH, safeguarding and health & safety policies.
  • Maintaining cleaning materials, consumables, and equipment.
  • Working collaboratively with Amey Operations Managers and Facilities Managers to ensure contractual compliance.

We want to hear from you if you have/are:

  • Supervisory experience in cleaning, facilities, or site management.
  • Strong knowledge of COSHH regulations and chemical safety.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Basic IT literacy for rotas, audits, and communication.
  • Experience maintaining accurate training records and coordinating staff training programmes.
  • Experience working in a school or educational environment.
  • Health & safety training, such as IOSH.
  • Experience managing deep cleans or term-time staffing structures.
