We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Building Structures Engineer to join our Advisory team within Consulting.
With shared office space in Birmingham, Telford, Manchester, Stafford, Sheffield and Bristol, we welcome applications from Senior Engineers across these regions .
The role
As the Building Structures Engineer you will function as a team Member, providing and supporting the production of technically sound deliverables for projects within the Built Environment portfolio. The portfolio may be single or multidiscipline projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- P roducing technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working unsupervised and supervising more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks
- The preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the overarching criteria of quality, cost and programme. Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions
- Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, responding to queries etc.
- Significantly contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work winning function
- Working on site, either on a visiting basis or in a full time but temporary role and including out of hours working
What you will bring to us:
- Experience of working in a team, engineers and technicians, providing technically robust engineering outputs (designs, calculations, drawings, documentation).
- Provision of technical leadership and guidance, ensuring compliance with standards and design governance including familiarity with Structural Eurocodes and Building Regulations
- Experience of using 3D CAD software, Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Tedds.
- Experience of managing quality and programme performance across multiple schemes.
- Professional engagement with clients and stakeholders, to support project delivery where appropriate.
- Hold (or be working towards) Incorporated or Chartered status with a relevant professional institution.
