Maintenance Plumber – Secure Site | Long‑term FM Contract | No Domestic Call‑outs

Looking for a secure, steady plumbing role where your skills really make a difference — without constant call‑outs or chasing materials?

We’re recruiting a Maintenance Plumber to join our secure, single‑site facilities team at HMP Stocken, working on a long‑term, stable contract supporting essential services within the prison.

This is a site‑based role with regular hours, excellent benefits, and genuine career progression — ideal if you’re looking for security, structure and long‑term development.

HMP Stocken is a well‑established Category C men’s prison near Oakham, Rutland. Set within the countryside, the site offers a stable, single‑location working environment with a strong focus on safety, teamwork and essential services. It’s an ideal setting for trade professionals looking for consistency, structure and meaningful work within a secure facility.

Free on‑site parking available. Easily accessible from Oakham, Stamford and surrounding areas. You’ll be part of a supportive team, with tools and materials and full induction provided.

At Amey, we offer more than just a job — we offer long‑term careers on stable contracts.

You’ll benefit from:

  • Job security – long‑term MoJ contract
  • Clear progression – opportunities into Team Leader or Facilities Manager roles
  • Excellent training – funded courses and development programmes
  • Competitive pension with employer contributions
  • 24 days holiday + bank holidays, with the option to buy more
  • Flexible benefits – including Cycle to Work, gym discounts and insurance options
  • Retail & lifestyle discounts through our benefits portal
  • Two paid Social Impact Days each year
  • Family‑friendly policies and inclusive working culture

What you’ll be doing

You’ll carry out a mix of planned and reactive plumbing work, helping to keep the site safe, compliant and fully operational. This includes:

  • General plumbing repairs and maintenance
  • Working on mains water systems
  • Fault‑finding and repairing equipment
  • Inspections, water sampling and basic risk assessments
  • Identifying and reporting life‑expired equipment

What we’re looking for

  • NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent)
  • Experience in plumbing maintenance
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Comfortable working in a commercial or similar environment

Legionella awareness is desirable but not essential — training can be provided.

Prison security clearance is required — we’ll support you fully through the process.

Working pattern & pay

  • 39 hours per week
  • 1 in 3 weekends — paid with a 15% allowance on basic salary
  • Salary range: £30,866 – £36,135, depending on experience

Inclusion & support

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.

As a Disability Confident Leader, we guarantee an interview to disabled applicants who meet the minimum requirements.
