Amey has been confirmed as the lead engineering consultant working with the NI Department for Infrastructure (DFI) on their Water and Departmental Delivery contract for the next five years, as well as NI Transport Asset Management and Translink contracts. We are also working on flood management projects for Regional Authorities in Wales, South-West, and Midlands, along with National Highways and National Rail, and we aim to expand further in these areas.
The role involves overseeing the production of Flood Management designs, leading a dedicated flood management design engineering team. This role can be based in Belfast or Cardiff, working collaboratively within the Flooding and Water Management team, providing support to senior engineers and team leaders on various flood schemes.
As an experienced Senior Flood Engineer at Amey Consulting, you’ll have the chance to focus on aspects of your role you most enjoy, such as further training, client relationship building, or developing leadership skills. Responsibilities include:
- Developing flood designs in accordance with client requirements and standards
- Representing the business in multi-disciplinary project teams
- Preparing and reviewing feasibility studies, appraisal, and assessment reports
- Developing engineering solutions and presenting options
- Producing and reviewing flood design concepts, drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Assisting in project budget management, planning, and resource reporting
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Supporting bid preparations and service delivery on other contracts
- Conducting site inspections, feasibility studies, and cost estimates
- Supervising contractors on-site as required
What you will bring to us:
- A keen interest in flood engineering, with relevant experience, likely in an Engineer/Senior Engineer role or equivalent
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Chartered status with a professional body and postgraduate experience in flood risk management projects
- Ability to produce or oversee technically sound engineering solutions complying with standards
- Experience with health, safety, and welfare regulations, e.g., CDM regulations
- Knowledge of technical governance in a consulting environment
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
- Excellent teamwork abilities
