We have an exciting opportunity for an Environment & Sustainability Manager to join Amey on a 12-month fixed-term contract, starting in August. The position is based nationwide, with travel expected across the UK.
The standard hours of work are 37.5, Monday to Friday. Working at Amey means joining an inspiring team of experts, where you’ll play a key role in leading environmental delivery across our regional network contracts throughout the UK. You’ll manage a team of 3 to 4 advisors, focusing on coaching and developing your people, while collaborating closely with senior leadership to provide specialist advice, carry out site inspections, and drive compliance across live operational sites. This is a hands-on role with regular engagement in construction and highways environments.
What You’ll Do:
- Line managing and developing a team of Environment & Sustainability Advisors
- Driving onsite environmental compliance across construction and highways projects
- Leading EMS improvements and supporting ISO 14001 requirements
- Managing and improving carbon data, KPIs, and environmental performance reporting
- Supporting bid submissions and work-winning activities
- Undertaking regular site inspections and engaging with operational teams to embed environmental best practice
- Working collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels to integrate sustainability into day-to-day operations

What You’ll Bring:
- Operational experience within construction, highways, or similar environments
- Proven line management experience, ideally managing teams of 4+
- Strong onsite experience with a focus on compliance and continuous improvement

- Confidence to support and challenge senior stakeholders
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly
