High Voltage (HV) Design Engineer to join our Consulting Power, Lighting and Technology team in
London / Southeast.
With offices in Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Cardiff, York, Sheffield and Newcastle, we are open to consider candidates from across the country.
The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, but we offer a range of flexible working practices, including hybrid, part-time and flexible working patterns.

- What you will be doing
- We are seeking an experienced
High Voltage (HV) Engineer to join our growing engineering team, delivering the design and development of electrical power infrastructure projects across the UK.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing HV substation solutions from concept through to detailed design, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience working on
Transport for London (Tf L) projects or within rail and transportation environments.
You will be responsible for or assist with
- Produce and review HV substation designs for voltages up to 132k V.
- Develop primary and secondary electrical design deliverables including:
- Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
- Protection and Control Schematics
- Cable Schedules
- Earthing Designs
- Equipment Specifications
- General Arrangement Drawings
- Undertake power system studies and design calculations.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and client requirements.
- Support project delivery from feasibility and tender stages through to commissioning.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- Participate in design reviews, hazard reviews, and technical assurance activities.
We want to hear from you if you have
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of power distribution systems and electrical infrastructure.
- Experience producing detailed design documentation and engineering calculations.
• Working knowledge of relevant industry standards including
- BS EN standards
- IEC standards
- DNO and National Grid specifications
- Experience using engineering design software and CAD tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience delivering projects for
Transport for London (Tf L) .
- Background in rail electrification, traction power, or transport infrastructure.
- Knowledge of LU Standards, Tf L Engineering Standards, or Network Rail standards.
- Experience with protection systems, SCADA, and control systems design.
