We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Lightning/Electrical Engineer to join our Consulting Energy, Lighting & Technology Practice. With office space in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Motherwell we welcome applications from across Scotland. Amey Consulting are the Design partner to support Transport Scotland in the delivery of the South West and North East Trunk Road Network Management Contracts, and Intelligent Transport Infrastructure. These long-term contracts involve designing some of the largest civil engineering and associated infrastructure projects in Scotland with cumulative values in excess of £1bn.
Furthermore, provide excellent opportunities for technical, engineering and professional design staff at all stages in their careers to be involved in some of the most exciting and challenging engineering projects associated with Scotland’s arterial road network. In addition to these long-term contracts, we also have a diverse portfolio of major roads, bridges and transportation and civil design projects with Transport Scotland, Local Authorities and established Clients across the UK and overseas. Our Local Authority business currently provides design resource for large LED upgrade programmes and ongoing design work for various local authorities supporting with lighting designs for S38, S278, highway improvement schemes and electric vehicle strategy and design.
As a Lighting/Electrical Engineer at Amey Consulting, you’ll see your work from early design to the very end result, and every project will be different from the last. You will be responsible for or assist with:
- Developing effective concept design solutions that are consistent with the project brief.
- Undertake a wide range of design work on all aspects of the functions design and maintenance.
- Implement effective, value for money and innovative design solutions to meet technical and project requirements.
- Progress projects through preliminary and detailed design with emphasis on client requirements, and ensure innovation and best practice is highlighted and adopted where practicable.
- Drive effective health and safety practices within your team.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM regulations.
- Supervise, mentor and develop team members.
- Assist with contract preparation together with project planning and programming.
- Project administration reporting to the Project Manager including monitoring programme delivery, resources and budgets inspection work, feasibility studies, cost estimating for works and fees.
- Support the preparation of bids and delivery of services on other contracts.
- Effective management and response of project related correspondence.
- Checks to ensure compliance with the integrated management system and assist in development.
- Prepare technical reports (e.g. Feasibility/Options Reports, Assessment Reports and other technical reports).
- Development of engineering solutions and presentation of engineering options.
- Liaise with the Client and our Community partners to ensure solutions that are developed are suitable for buildability and maintainability.
- Keep up to date with your own personal development to ensure the natural growth of the team and progression with your chosen professional institution.
What you will bring to us:
- You have made progress towards completion of a formal professional training programme with an appropriate professional body.
- You are able to demonstrate experience and expertise within the relevant technical field, probably gained in a Graduate Engineer role or equivalent.
- You are able to produce technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working under supervision.
- You are experienced in following procedures associated with health, safety and welfare.
- You are able to comply with technical governance procedures within a consulting engineering environment.
