We have fantastic opportunities for Permanent Highways Maintenance Operatives (HGV Driver) to join our NMC SW Account in Polmadie. Our NMC SW is working in partnership with Transport Scotland Southwest since August 2020, responsible for inspections, cyclical maintenance, asset management, scheme delivery as well as winter maintenance and incident response.
The team are first on the scene to assist road users on the road network, deliver engineering design and operational delivery services for more than 600 kilometres of road and 1,650 structures enabling reliable journey times and a high level of customer care for the people and businesses that use these roads every day. By ensuring our roads and highways are well-maintained through all-weather seasons and traffic incidents, we aim to create well-functioning, safe spaces which minimise disruption, keep people moving and support thriving communities.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The role will involve overtime, participation in on call rotas and nightshift working where required by the business. Highways Maintenance Operatives play an integral part in the installation of temporary traffic management and all aspects of highway maintenance works.
You will be responsible for:
- Undertaking all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils’ works and litter picking
- Driving/operating vehicles/plant ensuring vehicle checks, routing maintenance and cleaning is carried out
- Winter and Summer standby which will include emergency call out
- Ensuring the safety of yourself and the team is paramount
- Keeping records, including drivers’ hours and any paperwork necessary
- Traffic management qualifications in Sector 12 A, B, C and D
We want to hear from you if you have Civils, Trade or Street works experience to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed. In addition to this, it is essential you hold a full driving licence, and it would be preferred if you have an HGV licence.
