We are excited to offer a permanent General Building Engineer role in HMP/YOI Styal, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 4HR. The standard hours of work are 39 per week, Saturday to Thursday 07:45 - 16:30; Friday 07:45 - 15:30. There will be a need to work 1 in 4 weekends, on a rota basis, with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary.

At Amey, we support our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), by providing safe, clean and efficient prisons. Using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
What you will do:
- Undertake general tasks associated with security systems such as CCTV and alarm systems
- Carry out monthly checks and tests of fire extinguisher equipment, with regular checks on fire hydrants and fire hoses
- Carry out checks on Misting Units
- Conduct flushing and tap temperature tests as required by the water risk assessment
- Undertake monthly and annual emergency lighting checks
- Check and test smoke vents as required
- Any other duties commensurate with the role
What you will bring:
- Experience in Fire Door Maintenance
- Experience in Fire Extinguisher Maintenance
- Experience in Fire Alarm Core Points
- Experience in Emergency Lighting
- Experience in RCD
- Experience Water Temperature Testing
- Experience in/exposure to building and system compliance
