We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Fabric Operative to join our Edinburgh school’s account. The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week. We’re looking for a skilled Fabric Operative to support the delivery of high‑quality Hard FM services across our estate. A company van will be included (for business use only). A full UK driving licence is required for the role.
You’ll bring strong fabric and joinery skills, along with solid technical knowledge of building services systems. This is a hands‑on role where your expertise in Fabric/Hard FM will help keep our school environments safe, compliant, and well‑maintained.
What you will do:
- General building fabric maintenance and repair to include:
- Carry out scheduled building fabric PPM.
- Day to day reactive joinery/fabric repairs raised on our Helpdesk.
- Fire door maintenance and repair/replacement.
- General joinery work.
- Suspended ceiling repair and replacement.
- Minor wall filling and painting repairs.
What you will bring:
- Fabric/joinery-based skills.
- Strong technical skills in Hard/Fabric FM, with working knowledge of building services systems.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills for programming and managing works and services.
- Excellent communication skills – Written and oral.
- Basic IT skills.
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Time served joiner or equivalent experience.
- Required technical skills within joinery/carpentry.
- A basic knowledge of other trades plumbing, plastering, and painting would be an advantage.
