Salary: £37,791 (Monday 06:00 – Saturday 23:59 – Time and a Half; Saturday Midnight – Monday 05:59 – Double Time; Bank Holidays – Double Time plus statutory payment)
Hours: 40 Hours per week
Locations: Dalton Barracks, Abingdon (OX136JB), Stafford, Ripon, Woodbridge, Larkhill, Chatham and Chivenor
Responsibilities
- Perform service and maintenance on diesel, mechanical, and electrical MHE, customised plants, and associated ancillaries.
- Liaise with controllers and customers to clarify expected work, time‑scales, and costs.
- Diagnose breakdowns, identify root causes, and obtain the correct parts cost‑effectively.
- Inspect and check work to ensure equipment is safe and ready for hand‑over.
- Notify customers of any additional required work, including potential costs; maximise revenue from repaired equipment.
- Complete all related job and service documentation accurately, obtaining necessary signatures and documents from the customer.
Qualifications
- HGV Category C licence – essential.
- Level 3 apprenticeship or NVQ (C&G, Technical Certificate, Functional Skills) in a related engineering field such as Vehicle Systems Maintenance, Vehicle Electrics, Electronics, Diagnostics, Automotive Engineering, Hydraulics or Powertrain.
- Significant experience in a related engineering role (e.g., Car Mechanic, HGV Fitter, Plant Fitter) or equivalent formal apprenticeship qualification.
