We are excited to offer a permanent Electrician role in HMP Stafford, 54 Gaol Road, Stafford ST16 3AW. The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, between Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 17:00; Friday to Sunday 08:00 - 16:00. There is a requirement to work 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis, with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary.

What You Will Do
- Planned and preventative electrical maintenance, including administrative duties aligned to the tasks.
- Actively fault finding / problem solving on electrical systems across the prison.
- Carry out like for like replacements and other electrical minor works with the relevant electrical inspections and tests carried out and results recorded in accordance with BS7671.
- Ensuring that all electrical systems are safe, compliant, and functioning effectively, helping to create a secure and well-maintained environment for staff and residents.
- Assist the Responsible person and Authorised person when requested.
- You’ll be responsible for ensuring that Health & Safety standards, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work are consistently implemented and followed across all appropriate work streams.
- Assist escorting duties and other duties as required.
What You Will Bring
- City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 Electrical Installation works or equivalent.
- BS7671 18th Edition; we will consider 17th Edition with upskilling to 18th Edition.
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
- Good working knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance operations.
- Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
- Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Able to work at heights, to work independently and use initiative.
- Understanding of fire alarm and CCTV systems (Desirable).
- Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Basic IT skills.
