We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Assistant Drainage Engineer to join our Consulting Highways team in Nottingham. This is a hybrid opportunity, so we welcome applicants from across the region.
The role involves:
- Building hydraulic models using Causeway Flow
- Preparing feasibility and detailed design submissions, fielding technical queries during the construction stage and project close out
- Working in a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions
- Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme
- Supporting effective health and safety practices within the team
What You Will Bring To Us:
- Successful completion of a Degree Apprenticeship programme or an employer led early careers development programme, with a degree of progress through a programme of initial professional development leading towards Incorporated or Chartered status.
- Knowledge of drainage design processes and procedures relevant to the civil engineering discipline.
- Able to produce technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working without significant supervision and moving towards overseeing more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks.
- Experienced in following procedures associated with the management of health, safety and welfare, e.g. Amey’s Integrated Management System and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
- Knowledge and understanding of technical and specification processes and starting to take ownership for the production of deliverables with appropriate supervision.
- Good competence with relevant software and similar analytical tools.
- Basic understanding of CDM and risk assessment. Experienced in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of the different interfaces on projects.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject.
