We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an Arborist Apprentice to join our Sheffield Local Authority account based in Sheffield.
Starting Salary: £25,536.00 (Subject to review)
Location: Olive Grove Depot, Olive Grove Road, Sheffield, S2 3GE
Working hours per week: Monday – Friday 07:00 -15:30. 40hr/week
Start date: September 2026
As part of your apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto the Arborist Level 2 Apprenticeship, which takes approximately 21 months to complete. You will be fully supported by our partnered college with 1‑2‑1 advice, e‑learning materials and expert technical support on site.

What you will do:
- Tree climbing and aerial rescue.
- Storm clearance and stump grinding.
- Use of chainsaws.
- Tree planting and young‑tree maintenance.
- Operate light plant and power tools.
- Drive and operate vehicles, plant and machinery as required.
- Install and maintain traffic management systems.
- Carry out any other duties reasonably requested.
- Undertake vehicle and small‑plant checks.
- Liaise with subcontractors, emergency services, the public, clients and customers.
What you will bring:
- If you do not hold GCSE/Functional Skills qualifications, you must achieve a minimum of Entry Level 3 in Maths and English during initial assessment.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Basic knowledge of gardening and horticultural operations.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong customer‑care skills.
- Ability to carry out tasks with minimal supervision.
- Passion for developing your skills both professionally and personally.
- Ability to operate light plant, equipment and wheeled tractors.
