We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Painter/Decorator to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account in HMP Swansea, 200 Oystermouth Rd, Swansea SA1 3SR. The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week (shift pattern 3-week rota including working weekends, with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).
At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons. By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly. The Painter/Decorator plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Planned and reactive paint work in all areas of the prison.
- Responsibility for the care and maintenance of tools, materials and additional company property.
- Compliance with relevant company Health & Safety Policy, instructions and directive.
- Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
Role specifics:
You will ensure all works are carried out to the highest safety standards, sometimes working alongside and supervising the work of prisoners. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
Qualifications:
- Must be a fully qualified Painter.
- Previous relevant work-related experience.
- Good awareness and understanding of personal health and safety, method statements and risk assessments.
- Comfortable working alongside prisoners.
- Ideally NVQ level 3 in Painting and Decorating; NVQ level 2 considered.
- Desirable: experience sharing best practice with others; willingness to develop to speed with provided training.
