Permanent on‑site, mobile role working on highways across the North East area of Scotland.

The Field Engineer is responsible for reactive and planned maintenance, installation and commissioning of highways control technology installations across Scotland.

Responsibilities include:

  • Installing, maintaining and repairing electrical, control and communications installations in accordance with current regulations and manufacturer’s recommendations; responding to urgent or emergency failures.
  • Initial verification and periodic electrical testing and inspection to BS7671 of electrical installations, issuing the corresponding certification.
  • Updating schematic diagrams and as‑built records.
  • Undertaking all aspects of highway electrical maintenance works, including routine and cyclic maintenance.
  • Taking responsibility for Health and Safety to keep yourself and others safe, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Keeping records, completing all necessary paperwork, communicating and liaising with other Amey employees, sub‑contractors, emergency services, the police, the general public, clients and customers.

Qualifications:

  • Valid driving licence.
  • National certificate in an electronic/electrical discipline, with vocational qualifications in electrotechnical or telecommunications preferred.
  • Desirable: field installation and servicing experience; training will be provided if not present.
