Overview
Join Amey’s brand-new Mobile Team. We’re creating an exciting new Mobile Team to support the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), and we’re looking for skilled Mobile Gas Engineers / Plumbers to be part of it from the start. Based at HMP Holme House you’ll work across a defined regional estate (approx. 6 sites), delivering essential gas and mechanical maintenance that keeps prisons safe, compliant and operational. This is a mobile, varied role where no two days are the same – but you’ll always be supported by a well-established contract and a company that genuinely invests in its people.
What you’ll be doing
- Carrying out planned and reactive gas & mechanical maintenance
- Servicing and inspecting commercial gas appliances (including combustion analysis and flue integrity testing)
- Tightness testing of commercial gas pipework
- Maintaining gas interlocks and mechanical ventilation systems
- Working on high-capacity boilers, radiant tube heaters and commercial water heaters
- Supporting minor new works, upgrades and commissioning
- Ensuring strict compliance with Amey, MoJ and HMPPS safety and security standards
- Working safely at all times, living Amey’s Zero Code
You’ll be mainly region-based but may occasionally support other areas or sites if required.
What you’ll bring
- Essential
- Gas Safe registered with commercial endorsements, including: CODNCO1, CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1 / TPCP1A
- Proven experience maintaining commercial gas plant
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of combustion control systems, ventilation interlocks and pressure regulation
- Understanding of commercial water systems and Legionella compliance
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Plumbing
- Desirable
- Additional gas qualifications (COMCAT, CMET, REGT2 etc.)
- Experience in a custodial or highly regulated environment
