We have a fantastic opportunity for an Estimator within our Group division. This is a remote role; however, occasional travel to various UK offices will be required.

Join our vibrant, inclusive community in Group / Commercial to support the Consulting division in producing high-quality estimates and tender submissions. Working alongside our Bidding team, the Estimator will be accountable for advising on pricing strategy, compliant with Amey’s governance procedures and legislation, and preparing detailed analytical estimates using first principles techniques. The role will include providing support and input into the estimating process, pricing strategy, risk analysis and tender review processes to ensure all estimates are robust and offer our customers best value while protecting Amey’s commercial interests.

Responsibilities
- Preparation of detailed and robust estimates, including from first principles whilst adhering to the bid programme.
- Proactively challenging pricing strategy and alignment to customers’ needs and/or contractual entitlement ensuring the development of the right commercial solutions which cascade into post contract delivery.
- Liaison with the bidding team and operational and commercial staff to deliver high quality, robust pricing submissions.
- Preparation of client documents for tender submissions.
- Providing input and support into the evaluation and pricing of risk and opportunity on tenders.
- Support the approvals process with the Pre-Contract Commercial & Estimating team to ensure all tenders adhere to the correct level of governance and tracking any changes post approval to ensure compliance is maintained.
- Development and co-ordination of a benchmarking library of cost and output data to inform future opportunities.
- Complete indexation and market analysis tracking and implement across all submissions.
- Managing an internal Estimating tool including maintaining input data, troubleshooting errors and training users.
- Ensuring a comprehensive and robust handover to post-contract delivery teams is undertaken for all secured tenders.
- Ensuring, where applicable, lessons learned sessions are undertaken on pricing activities and continuous improvement is embedded into the team.
Qualifications
- HNC or Degree Qualified in relatable discipline or equivalent on the job experience.
- Proven track record in an estimating role, preferably in a consulting environment.
- Knowledge and experience of pricing and contracting under different forms of contracts and pricing mechanisms, including NEC Options A-F.
- Ability to effectively establish and communicate the key pricing and commercial issues to the Senior Leadership Team.
- A good knowledge of risk and opportunity management.
- A good level of understanding of first principles estimating techniques as well as cost planning and budgeting.
- Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products especially Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI.
- A good understanding of construction techniques and methodologies preferable.
- Good knowledge of using proprietary estimating software (such as CCS Candy) and risk management such as Oracle Crystal Ball is preferable; however, training will be provided if required.
- Completion of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and progression to Member status of the relevant professional institutions will be an expectation of the role if not currently held.
