We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Mobile Approved Electrician in the HMP Hull, Hedon Road, Hull HU9 5LS, England. The role will involve travel across the region visiting various sites covering approximately 6 establishments; a van will be provided.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00 - 17:00. There will be a requirement for weekend work on a rota basis (1 in 4) for which we pay a 15% shift allowance, and also part of an on-call rota.

Responsibilities:
- You will carry out the role of Mobile electrician and assist on-site teams in completing a range of daily, PPM weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance tasks to ensure the site achieves and maintains statutory and mandatory compliance, incorporating reactive works on your sites.
- You will carry out the role of Responsible Person managing, controlling and supervising all electrical systems and works for your sites.
- You will carry out the role of Authorised Person in accordance with Amey Electrical Safety Procedure for defined works and carry out the isolations and issue permits to work where required on your sites.
- Review Electrical Installation certification including EICR, Electrical Installation certificates and Minor works certificates etc issued for your sites.
- Produce Standard operating procedures, written instructions, risk assessments, method statements and toolbox talks etc for work on your sites.
- Assess the competence of directly employed and supply chain operatives before work is issued on your sites.
- Review contractors risk assessments and method statements for work on your sites.
- Provide electrical technical support and advice to Amey site team.
- Create and review site risk registers, notify Management of any defects on equipment or systems and contribute to risk meetings as required.
- Liaise closely with Authorising Engineers and take ownership of personal training plan, familiarisation and knowledge across all your sites.
- Maintain accurate records within personal AP log book for site attendance and activities undertaken.
- Follow Amey/MOJ/HMPPS Security protocols including tool management.
- Any other duties commensurate with the role.
- Assist escorting duties as required.
Qualifications and requirements:
- City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Electrical Installation works or equivalent
- City & Guilds 2391 Electrical Inspection and Testing or equivalent
- BS7671 18th Edition, however, we will consider 17th Edition with upskilling to 18th Edition
- Qualify for Amey Electrical AP responsibilities.
- AM2 Practical
- NVQ level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent and/or ECS Gold Card Approved Electrician
- Full UK Driving License
- Good Working Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements.
- Strong communication skills
- Role specific training as identified by People Manager
- Basic IT skills
- Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
- At least five years experience working as an Electrician.
- Two years' experience working in a role as a test and inspection electrician or equivalent
- Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems
- Good working knowledge of planned and preventive maintenance operations
- Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines
- Able to work at heights
- Able to work independently and use initiative
- Understanding of fire alarm and CCTV systems, which will help you make an immediate impact. (Desirable)
- Prison Security Clearance Enhanced DBS with Child Barring will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
