Highways Team Leader
We are excited to offer a permanent Highways Team Leader to join our dynamic Staffordshire County Council Account. This role will be carried out on-site at our Gailey depot (ST19 5PR) and across Staffordshire. As a Highways Team Leader, you will manage Winter & Cyclical activities across our designated sections, oversee maintenance teams, ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality, monitor resource utilisation, and foster effective communication among stakeholders. The position offers a competitive salary and standard hours of 40 hours per week.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain high technical standards and oversee various work activities.
- Ensure team and public safety in compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Monitor resource utilisation.
- Liaise with various stakeholders, manage records, and complete necessary paperwork.
- Coordinate day‑to‑day maintenance operations and manage resources efficiently.
- Carry out Winter supervision on the designated nightshift (Oct‑Apr).
- Support out of hours service.

What You’ll Bring
- Experience of working on a Highways Maintenance Contract.
- Full UK Driver’s License.
- People Management Experience.
- Good communication skills.
- Relevant certifications: Banksman Slinger, CAT Scanner (Highways), Emergency First Aid at Work (HSE), Environmental Awareness, Personal Highways Safety, Manual Handling.
