Your New Role We have a fantastic opportunity as a permanent Electrician to join our Trafford account in Manchester. This role will be based on site at Tatton House, 11 Caldey Road, Roundthorn Industrial Estate, Wythenshawe, Manchester, M23 9LF. Amey and Trafford Council are working together to deliver commercial and domestic waste collections, street cleaning, grounds maintenance, highways services, bridges, road safety, street lighting and furniture, drainage, and property services. Working through locally based teams, we support communities by helping to create better safer and more pleasant places. As an Electrician, the main purpose of this role is to maintain the network, install all electrical equipment, street light column, bollards, signs and feeder pillars this includes all associated wiring and excavation. Install cables, cut outs and lanterns and repairing lanterns with interchangeable electronic components. The standard hours of work are 40hrs across 5 days (0730-1600) You will be responsible for : Install all electrical equipment following HEA and IEE 18th Edition wiring regulations and attend to routine street lighting/cable faults. Diagnose and replace failed components and carry out electrical inspection tests to HEA 714 standards or equivalent. Excavate for columns, bollards, sign poles, lay ducting/cable, and bulk clean and change lanterns. Commission new lighting columns, bollards, lit sign poles, and record test results using certificates or handheld computers. Take part in out-of-hours emergency services on a call-out rota basis, supporting other Amey contracts as needed. Maintain responsibility for the security of plant, tools, materials, and vehicles, while adhering to PPE and health and safety protocols.
