We have a fantastic opportunity for a Health & Safety Manager to join our Area 10 account. This role is site-based across the North West, with a blend of field and office working, with office locations around Warrington and the wider network.

At Amey, we work in partnership with National Highways to keep the country moving safely. We’re now looking for an Operational Safety Advisor who will play a key role in delivering visible, practical, and risk-based health and safety support across the network. You will support operational teams, supervisors, managers, and supply chain partners to ensure compliance with legal requirements, National Highways standards, and Amey procedures, while driving continuous improvement and embedding our Zero Code culture across Area 10.

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with flexibility required to support operational and occasional out-of-hours activities.

What You’ll Do

  • Operational Safety Assurance – Providing visible safety leadership across operational sites through inspections, engagement tours and proactive interventions
  • Safety & Compliance – Supporting compliance with health and safety legislation, National Highways standards and Amey procedures, including RAMS and safe systems of work
  • Audit & Inspection – Delivering planned and reactive audits and inspections, identifying non-conformances and supporting timely close‑out of actions
  • Incident Management – Supporting incident investigations, identifying root causes and ensuring effective learning and action implementation
  • Performance & Reporting – Maintaining accurate records, analysing trends and supporting the production of safety performance reports and insights
  • Supply Chain Assurance – Monitoring and influencing subcontractor compliance, ensuring alignment with Amey’s standards and expectations
  • Continuous Improvement – Driving improvement initiatives and promoting a proactive, learning‑led safety culture across the contract
  • Stakeholder Collaboration – Building strong relationships with operational teams, National Highways and supply chain partners

What You’ll Bring

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Experience in a Health & Safety role within highways, construction or infrastructure
  • Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and standards
  • Experience supporting or delivering audits and inspections
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to challenge and influence behaviours positively
  • Experience or exposure to NEC environments and National Highways standards (desirable)
  • IOSH membership (or working towards)
  • Willingness to travel across the Area 10 network
