Amey is recruiting an Approved Electrician to join Amey’s Electrical Team at our NRS Harwell Branch in Oxfordshire. This is a long‑term, secure role offering consistent hours, a 9‑day fortnight and the opportunity to work on a team in a high‑security, safety‑critical environment.

About The Role

Working at NRS Harwell, you’ll play an important part in maintaining safe and compliant nuclear facilities. The environment is controlled, professional and highly regulated, making attention to detail, safety and standards essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Duties would be planned and reactive maintenance of various buildings in our client’s portfolio, including inspection and testing, emergency light testing, PAT Testing, RCD testing, installation of new equipment or replacement/repair of lamps, sockets etc.
  • To carry out duties in line with current Health and Safety legislation.
  • Assist with minor building fabric repairs.
  • Carry out ad hoc general minor repairs as required.
  • Contractor escort duties.

What You’ll Bring

  • Required - (equivalent qualifications accepted):
    • 18th Edition in electrical installation.
    • NVQ Level 3 in electro technical services - Electrical Installation.
    • City & Guilds 2392 or 2394/95 testing and inspection.
    • City & Guilds 2330 or NVQ Equivalent.
    • City & Guilds 2377.
  • Desirable:
    • English speaking.
    • Previous maintenance experience working in a commercial environment.
    • Be flexible & carry out duties which are not specific to your trade.
    • Knowledge of Health & Safety & safe working practices; all mandatory Safety training will be given, but specialist training such as IPAF and PASMA Certification (preferred).
    • Previous experience with all types of access equipment would be advantageous.
    • Experience with commercial and industrial installations.
    • Competent with testing and inspection with 2392 or equivalent.
    • Candidate must be fully conversant with latest wiring regulations and be competent with completing NICEIC Certificates; opportunity to be NICEIC Qualified Supervisor for company.
  • Physical / Dexterity:
    • Manual handling ability.
    • Good understanding of Health & Safety.
    • Strong communication and people skills.
    • Ability to work calmly and professionally in a controlled / secure environment.
    • Organised, reliable and able to lead by example.
    • Full UK driving licence.

Security & site environment

This role is based within a nuclear restoration site. You must be willing to work in controlled areas. Baseline Personal Security clearance required – fully supported by Amey.
