Your New Role
Join our centralised Claims team in Polmadie, Glasgow as a Technical Claims Handler. This is a fantastic opportunity to leverage your expertise in a dynamic, supportive hybrid environment (3 days in the office, 2 days at home). As a Technical Claims Handler, you will be responsible for investigating incidents of damage to Crown Property, recovering costs, and concluding third-party damage claims. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including client representatives, insurers, solicitors, loss adjusters and police forces. This role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (08:30am – 4:30pm), offering flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow established claims handling procedures to ensure a consistent, high-quality service
- Maintain accurate records across multiple systems
- Review and assess incidents on the road network
- Collate and validate repair evidence
- Prepare cost and evidence packs to support recovery
- Investigate claims, assess liability, and identify mitigation opportunities
- Make decisions on pursuing or defending claims, with appropriate escalation
- Identify and escalate potential fraudulent or inconsistent activity
- Manage claim reserves and financial risk
- Chase outstanding payments and support credit control
- Negotiate settlements with insurers, solicitors and loss adjusters
- Manage expectations of all parties throughout the claim lifecycle
- Liaise professionally and sensitively with third parties
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Previous experience in motor, liability, insurance or legal claims
- Experience managing claims end-to-end (“cradle to grave”)
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written communication (letters and emails)
- Analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience handling complaints
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- A commercially aware mindset with a focus on achieving positive outcomes
