Starting Salary: £24,898.00 per annum (subject to review)

Location: 150 Polmadie Road, Glasgow, G5 0HD

Working Hours: Monday–Thursday, 08:00–16:30, Friday 08:00–15:30. Weekend and night shift work is voluntary. 39 hours per week

Start Date: July 2026

As part of your apprenticeship you will be enrolled onto the Construction Civil Engineering SCQF 5 programme, which takes approximately 24 months to complete. You will receive full support from a partnered college, including 1‑2‑1 guidance, e‑learning materials and technical support at work.

What you will do:

  • Routine and cyclical maintenance activities.
  • Minor civil and drainage works such as ditching and temporary patching.
  • Carriageway patching and general labouring tasks.
  • Vehicle and plant operation, including vehicle checks and routine maintenance.
  • Undertaking all aspects of highway maintenance, including litter picking and winter maintenance operations.
  • Assisting with emergency call‑out operations and supporting incident response.
  • Maintaining high technical standards and following health and safety legislation.
  • Recording drivers’ hours, resource utilisation and maintaining accurate paperwork.
  • Communicating effectively with colleagues, subcontractors, emergency services, police, clients and the public.

  • Scottish National 5s (A–C) including English, Maths and Science.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • DBS requirements met.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety.
