The Opportunity Amey Engineering teams improve the environment and create sustainable flooding solutions across the UK, by working in partnership with a range of clients, providing consultancy design services for Local Authorities, Strategic and Local transport providers and organisations delivering National Infrastructure. The Role Due to an increased workload, we are looking to recruit Flooding Modeller / Engineer. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the Flooding and Water Management team in Scotland, providing effective support and assistance to the modellers and team leaders on a variety of flood schemes. We have been confirmed as the lead engineering consultant working with the NI Department for Infrastructure (DFI) on their Water and Departmental Delivery contract for the next five years, as well as NI Transport Asset Management and Translink contracts. As a Flood Modeller / Engineer at Amey, you’ll see your work from early design to the very end result, and every project will be different from the last. Key Responsibilities
- Undertake preliminary and detailed modelling and design of Flood Management projects.
- Prepare modelling reports including GIS mapping, and contract specifications and bills of quantities for projects.
- Provide supervision and management of contracts for both minor and major projects.
- Undertake feasibility, outline and detailed design studies.
- Contribute to the development of tender documents for small and large scale procurements.
- Undertake work relating to the programme management of Flood Management Improvement Schemes.
- Procure surveys and other field works.
What you will bring to us
- Have a Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject.
- Post qualification experience in the feasibility, design, supervision and overall management of flood management projects.
- Have experience in Infoworks ICM, FloodModeller or HecRas and hydrological modelling techniques.
- Have achieved at least Incorporated Engineer status as defined by the Engineering Council, or agree to a formal training agreement leading towards Chartered Engineer or Water Management status as defined by the Engineering Council and agreed on a realistic programme towards achieving a professional qualification.
- Have an appreciation of technical governance procedures and how they are applied within a consulting engineering environment.
- Can demonstrate developing experience and expertise within the relevant technical field.
- Produce or oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements.
- Have an interest or experience in delivering works in an environmentally sustainable manner, and can provide evidence of where this has been undertaken previously.
- Are experienced in undertaking project related tasks associated with health, safety, and welfare.
- Understand technical governance procedures within a consulting engineering environment.
