We have a new opportunity for a permanent Construction Manager to join our Traffic Scotland Infrastructure Contract (TSIC) in Cumbernauld, Glasgow. Our TSIC account works in partnership with Traffic Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland since 2004. We are responsible for maintaining and upgrading all the Traffic Scotland roadside monitoring and control infrastructure across Scotland. To provide the service, we handle and process asset data and information from multiple sources, and produce numerous reports to assist the contract team, customer, and operational partners to make informed decisions pertaining to the management of the infrastructure.

Standard hours of work Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.

The Construction Manager role is to drive a safe working culture and the efficient and compliant delivery of all works under the TSIC Contract, ensuring statutory obligations, programme, quality, and stakeholder requirements to a high standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day‑to‑day delivery of highway and infrastructure works across the TSIC contract.
  • Fulfil Principal Contractor duties in line with CDM Regulations and ensure workforce compliance.
  • Plan and deliver works in accordance with Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
  • Review and approve Construction Phase Plans, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.
  • Undertake site inspections, audits, and safety visits, ensuring actions are tracked and closed out.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors and supply chain partners on site.
  • Monitor programme, resources, and costs, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate site records are maintained, including diaries, permits, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure all works meet required specifications, standards, and quality expectations of the contract.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, local authorities, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by leading by example and delivering briefs, toolbox talks, and workforce engagement.
  • Report, investigate, and review incidents and near misses, working with SHE Advisors to implement improvements.
  • Champion Amey values and a safety-first approach across all site activities.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and solve problems effectively in a live operational environment.
  • Commercially aware mindset, with an understanding of cost control, programme delivery and value for money.
  • A proactive and professional approach, with confidence to take ownership and work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and supply chain partners.
  • A strong commitment to health, safety and wellbeing, leading by example and promoting a positive safety culture on site.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations, NRSWA, Highways Safety and Site Management Safety, with experience applying these standards in day-to-day site operations.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.

This role involves significant site-based work; flexibility to work in all weather conditions throughout the year is required, as well as some out‑of‑hours supervision.
