Location: Perth, Motherwell, Edinburgh and other offices across the UK and Ireland. Standard hours: 40 per week, with flexible, hybrid, part‑time and other arrangements available. Amey Consulting Scotland’s Civil Engineering team designs large infrastructure projects across Scotland, including major roads, bridges and transport projects for Transport Scotland and local authorities.
What You Will Be Doing
- Work in a team to develop technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements.
- Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation to meet quality, cost, and programme criteria.
- Liaise with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attend progress meetings and respond to queries.
- Manage a small, locally based technical team and take responsibility for workload delivery.
- Contribute to bid preparation and the general work‑winning function.
- Work on site as required, including out‑of‑hours and temporary visits.
We Want To Hear From You If You Have
- A degree or master’s in civil engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in highway engineering, particularly local roads and S278 layouts.
- Ability to work commercially and customer‑focused, achieving programme, performance targets and revenue goals.
- Confidence to work with minimal supervision and supervise junior staff.
- Strong knowledge of the Manual for Streets, DMRB, national standards, best practice guidance and local standards.
- Understanding of CDM regulations as they apply to highway design.
- Skill in preparing briefs for fee quotes when required.
- Capability to deliver on time, within budget and to the required quality.
- Commitment to staying up‑to‑date with industry best practice and applying it within the team.
