The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Electrical Engineer to join our Consulting Rail team. With shared office spaces in Bristol & Cardiff and the ability to work remotely, we invite applications from across the region. The Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Engineer to support our Design and Development team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will support the Senior Engineer and lead junior Engineers in the design and delivery of multiple rail projects including TRU and Wales & Borders.
- To work in a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working unsupervised and supervising more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks.
- The preparation and checking of electrical and lighting designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the overarching criteria of quality, cost and programme.
- Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions.
- Keeping up to date with current Network Rail, British and European standards.
- Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, responding to queries etc.
- Managing a small, locally based single discipline technical team and taking responsibility for delivery of workload.
- Contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work winning function.
What You Will Bring To Us
- A Degree/Masters qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Relevant experience in electrical design (railway experience preferable).
- Member of the Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET).
- Ideally trained in the 17th edition of IET wiring regulations.
- Good understanding of systems engineering including the verification & validation of SRAM processes.
- The ability to work in a commercial and customer focused way which achieves programme, meets performance targets and generates income.
- Be confident to work under minimum supervision and competent to check the work of others and supervise less experienced or junior staff.
- A good understanding of the CDM regulations and CSM processes.
- The ability to support the preparation of briefs for fee quotes for delivery of services when required.
- Can deliver on time, within budget and to the quality required.
- Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate apply best practice within the team.
