We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Project Manager to join our Consulting Highways team in Birmingham.

Key Midlands Frameworks

  • Midlands Highway Alliance (MHA): This framework enables us to collaborate directly with 21 local authorities, delivering essential highway infrastructure and maintenance projects. The MHA contract encompasses a variety of tasks, from routine maintenance and upgrades to innovative highway design solutions.
  • Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF): The SDF framework is managed in collaboration with Highways England, covering a comprehensive range of civil engineering projects, including highways, bridges, and more.
  • Staffordshire Infrastructure Plus: Our partnership with Staffordshire County Council under this long-term contract has delivered over £100m worth of major transport infrastructure projects.

These frameworks allow Amey to deliver high-quality, innovative, and sustainable engineering solutions across the Midlands. They also provide a diverse range of opportunities for personal and professional development.

The role

As a Project Manager you will provide effective support and assistance to the Delivery Manager in the production and maintenance of technically sound project management deliverables, for Amey Consulting commissions. Responsibilities include:

  • Producing technically sound project management deliverables for Amey Consulting, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements.
  • The preparation, checking and maintenance of project management related information.
  • Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, responding to queries etc.
  • Managing a small, locally based single discipline project management team.
  • Contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work winning function.
  • Assuming the role of people manager when required by the business.

What you will bring to us:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject.
  • Associate membership of the Association for Project Management.
  • Experience working on highways infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Very good working knowledge of relevant project management software and similar analytical tools.
  • Good oral communicator who is able to present arguments and ideas well.
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of Health, Safety and Welfare, including specific regulations.
  • Supervisory and people manager skills.
