We have a fantastic opportunity for permanent Building Surveyor to join our Advisory Consulting team. With shared office space in Birmingham, Bristol, London, Manchester, and Sheffield, we welcome applications from Building Surveyors across these regions.

The Building Surveying team forms part of the wider Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy Business of c2,000 staff. Our workload is mainly (but not solely) based in the UK. Full Design and Project Management for minor Building fit out projects for national clients including DWP.

A full suite of surveying capability including:

  • Asset Capture Surveys
  • Asset Condition Surveys
  • Building and Historic Building Condition Surveys
  • Void surveys
  • Specialist Surveys including RAAC and Cell Door Fire Compliance

Working in conjunction with our Advisory colleagues, we ensure we provide data-led solutions to maximise the efficiency of forward asset management plans, helping clients achieve their Net Zero ambitions as we drive the Energy Transition Agenda.

The role involves providing building surveying services and assisting our Design Teams, Asset Management Teams, and ultimately our end client users. As a Surveyor, you will provide sound technical skills across the full range of activities and provide advice and guidance to our clients, being involved at all stages of the project from fee build up, client liaison, project management, project delivery, and close out.

Once specialist training is provided, you will be able to act as Principal Designer assuring Building Regulation compliance of refurbishment and new build schemes in accordance with the new Building Regulation Amendment Regulations, as well as under the CDM regulations.

What You Will Bring To Us:

  • Chartered Member of RICS or educated to RICS accredited degree level (or equivalent work experience) dependant on career progression.
  • Associate Membership RICS or similarly evidenced progression with a related institution – e.g. CIOB.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, working across a diverse team, providing a broad range of technical services.
  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary environment with a proven track record of experience undertaking asset building surveys and asset conditioning.
  • Experience in procurement and delivery of major works programmes including contract and project management, effective stakeholder consultation, and monitoring of customer satisfaction.
  • A strong understanding of regulation and contractual requirements in sectors such as Health, Education, and Justice.
  • Sound knowledge of Building Regulations, Planning, Health and Safety, Environmental, Sustainability, and Net Zero Carbon.
  • M&E understanding on asset maintenance.
  • Experience of updating asset management systems.
  • Experience of defect analysis and remediation, planned maintenance strategy and advice.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills.
  • Able to work to a high degree of accuracy and to prioritise and plan effectively.
  • IOSH working safely (training can be given).
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to form strong connections internally as well as externally with our customers.
  • Experience of CAD, Revit and/or technology-based solutions.
  • Able to generate new work from within the business and externally.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills effective for a wide range of audiences.
  • Flexible, agile worker not averse to travel and working away from home when required.
  • You are a technically minded, impartial, free thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • To work in a team, producing technically sound surveying solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working unsupervised and supervising/managing more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks.
  • Contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work winning function.

Nuclear Sector Experience:

Experience working on nuclear licensed sites, knowledge of nuclear safety culture, and familiarity with relevant regulatory and assurance frameworks will be highly valued.
