Permanent General Operative/Handyperson

Location: Grosvenor Grammar School, Marina Park, Belfast BT5 6BA. On-site based.

Salary: £28,051.20 per annum.

Hours: 37.5 per week. Monday–Friday shift work on a 3‑week rotation:

  • Week 1 6:30 am–2:30 pm;
  • Week 2 10:30 am–6:30 pm;
  • Shift patterns may vary and will be confirmed in interview.

What you will do:

  • Ensure smooth running of the school premises
  • Open the building in the morning and lock it at the end of the day
  • Carry out day‑to‑day DIY/maintenance and minor repairs (e.g., furniture fixtures)
  • Ensure heating, lighting and alarm systems are working properly
  • Act as booking engineer for major repair work
  • Daily check that all doors and windows are locked when the building is not in use
  • Check the premises to guard against vandalism
  • Arrange chairs and tables for meetings or assemblies and clear away afterwards
  • Work under direction of team lead
  • Keep in line with best practice and health and safety regulations
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM)
