We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Workshop Technician to join our Fleet & Plant team based at our Preston Brook Depot in Runcorn. At Amey, we deliver essential infrastructure services that keep communities moving. Our Fleet & Plant team is critical in ensuring our vehicles, trailers and plant equipment remain safe, compliant and fully operational. The Workshop Technician plays an important role in carrying out inspection, diagnosis, maintenance and repair across a diverse fleet, ensuring the highest standards of safety, performance and reliability.
What you'll do:
- Carry out inspection, diagnosis, servicing and repair of vehicles, trailers and plant equipment
- Work within the workshop or via Mobile Service Vehicles (MSVs) as required
- Perform maintenance in line with manufacturer guidelines and DVSA standards
- Complete all work to a minimum MOT standard
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify electrical, mechanical and hydraulic faults
- Test functionality of vehicle systems and components
- Deliver cost-effective repairs within agreed budgets
- Complete job cards and maintenance records using tablets/PDA devices
- Conduct road tests to confirm safety and performance
- Provide roadside support and breakdown assistance when required
- Ensure safe use and maintenance of all tools and equipment
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Adhere to all legal, compliance and Operator Licence requirements
- Follow Health & Safety procedures at all times
- Work collaboratively and share knowledge across the team
