We have a fantastic opportunity for Permanent Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join our SGM Account in Glasgow. Our Scottish Grounds Maintenance Account works in partnership with other Amey accounts to internally deliver grounds maintenance services. Our primary work stream involves the delivery of grounds maintenance services on behalf of our facility management colleagues in Secure Infrastructure. This work involves all the planned grounds maintenance activities across 70 school sites nationally, spread over 6 local authority locations, including Borders, Clackmannanshire, Dumfries & Galloway, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Renfrewshire. In addition to planned maintenance, we also deliver winter and responsive works services. The account's other main activity is to deliver internal vegetation management on behalf of NMCSW and NMCNE highways contracts.
The Grounds Maintenance Operative plays an important part in providing general maintenance, such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, clearing leaves, verges, and litter services in the Glasgow area. The standard hours of work are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday.
You will be responsible for:
- Horticulture activities such as planting, pruning, and seeding
- Erecting and dismantling equipment
- Setting out, making sports pitches including grass and tarmac surfaces
- Upkeep of artificial and synthetic pitches
- Tree care
- Undertaking vehicle, tractor, and cutting equipment checks
- Weather dependent, carrying out site gritting and snow clearing activities
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Full driving licence preferably with some trailer pulling experience
- General experience of grounds maintenance type duties
- Basic knowledge of gardening and horticulture
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have experience in the use of ride-on mower equipment to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
