As part of your apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto the Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship, which will take approximately 21 months to complete. You will be fully supported by our partnered college to achieve this qualification, with 1-2-1 advice, e-learning materials, and a team of experts available to provide guidance and technical knowledge in your workplace. Responsibilities:
- Completing all aspects of highway maintenance, including routine and cyclical activities, minor civils works and litter picking.
- Carrying out minor civils and drainage works.
- Undertaking carriageway patching.
- Maintaining high technical standards.
- Attending project and work briefings as required.
- Driving and operating vehicles/plant requiring general and specialist skills.
- Completing vehicle checks, routine maintenance (e.g., oil and water checks) and cleaning.
- Participating in winter maintenance operations.
- Assisting with emergency call-out operations.
- Taking responsibility for your own safety and the safety of your team, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and protecting members of the public.
If you do not hold GCSE/Functional Skills qualifications, you must achieve a minimum of Entry Level 3 in Maths and English during initial assessment. Full UK driving licence. Ability to meet DBS requirements. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be eligible for consideration, due to the nature of the work associated with this account.
