The role of Transport Planner offers the chance to work at the forefront of complex projects, helping our team to deliver technically sound, evidence‑based solutions that shape how people and goods move.
Responsibilities
- Work in a team to produce technically sound transport planning solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements.
- Prepare and check transport planning documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy quality, cost and programme criteria.
- Oversee the actions of junior staff and take responsibility for their deliverables.
- Liaise with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attend progress meetings and respond to queries.
- Manage a small, locally based single‑discipline technical team and take responsibility for workload delivery.
- Contribute to bid preparation and the general work‑winning function.
- Assume the role of people manager when required by the business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject.
- Applies transport planning theory and principles to real‑world situations.
- Strong commercial awareness and a good understanding of suppliers and types of services.
- Excellent oral communication skills; able to present arguments and ideas clearly.
- Good knowledge of CDM, risk assessment and interface management.
- Experience in managing and communicating hazards and risks on projects.
- Demonstrated supervisory and people‑management skills for a small technical team.
- Experience in an Assistant Transport Planner role or equivalent preferred.
