We're looking for a talented and proactive management accountant to join our Finance team in Sheffield. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join a dynamic and forward-thinking Finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager for the Sheffield Highways PFI contract, you will play a significant part in managing the financial reporting processes for the contract, delivering high-quality information to tight deadlines. You will support the Finance Manager in the preparation of management information for the senior leadership team and financial planning activities to support successful decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts
- Variance analysis of actual performance including cost reconciliations and analysis of profit variances
- Supporting business budgeting and forecasting, including cash flow
- Revenue recognition and WIP reconciliation
- Ensuring correct revenue and cost allocation across works
- Production of Balance Sheet reconciliations, along with identification of and dealing with potential issues
- Business partnering with overhead functions to support management of cost base
- Ad-hoc financial analysis to support business strategy and performance
- Preparation of information and liaising with Group Finance and external auditors as required
Qualifications
- Relevant finance qualification (for example, ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
- Strong IT skills, particularly in the use of Microsoft Excel
- Previous management accountancy experience in a similar environment, including working with profit centres and producing variance analyses
- Experience of business partnering
- Knowledge of accounting practices and reporting requirements, experience of working with IFRS15 would be of distinct advantage
- Organisation and planning skills, with ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of a relevant accounting system, SAP preferred but not critical
- Experience of working within an Infrastructure environment, specifically Highways, Rail or Construction would be of distinct advantage
