We have an exciting opportunity for an Environment & Sustainability Manager to join Amey on a 12-month fixed-term contract, starting in August. The position is based at Tower Hamlets - 15 Westferry Circus (E14 4HD). The standard hours of work are 37.5, Monday to Friday. Working at Amey means joining an inspiring team of experts, where you'll play a key role in leading environmental delivery across our regional network contracts throughout the UK.

You'll manage a team of 3 to 4 advisors, focusing on coaching and developing your people, while collaborating closely with senior leadership to provide specialist advice, carry out site inspections, and drive compliance across live operational sites. This is a hands-on role with regular engagement in construction and highways environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Line manage and develop a team of Environment & Sustainability Advisors
  • Drive onsite environmental compliance across construction and highways projects
  • Lead EMS improvements and support ISO 14001 requirements
  • Manage and improve carbon data, KPIs, and environmental performance reporting
  • Support bid submissions and work-winning activities
  • Undertake regular site inspections and engage with operational teams to embed environmental best practice
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels to integrate sustainability into day-to-day operations

Qualifications

  • Practitioner level (or above) professional status (e.g., ISEP)
  • Operational experience within construction, highways, or similar environments
  • Proven line management experience, ideally managing teams of 4+
  • Strong onsite experience with a focus on compliance and continuous improvement
  • Experience delivering tangible environmental improvements and managing projects
  • Confidence to support and challenge senior stakeholders
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly
