The Commercial Strategy & Planning teams play a pivotal role in driving our strategic power plays by shaping, orchestrating, and driving the commercial strategy that underpins our growth ambitions. It is cross-functional, fast-paced and we work on Amex GBT’s most challenging strategic projects delivering for senior stakeholders.
This role focuses on the ‘Go Big on SME’ and ‘Champion Customer Obsession’ powerplays, where you will gain exposure to a wide range of functions, driving strategic initiatives that have real bottom-line impact.
What You’ll Do:
- Partner with senior leadership to develop and deliver the organisation's long-term corporate strategy.
- Prepare high-quality presentations, recommendations and executive materials for senior leadership and key business stakeholders.
- Act as a strategic business partner to departments across the organisation, spanning Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Strategy, Finance, and Product, providing commercial insight and analytical support.
- Scope and lead cross-functional strategic projects, working collaboratively across commercial, operational, and corporate teams.
- Influence stakeholders at all levels by building strong relationships and navigating a fast-moving, cross-functional environment with competing priorities.
- Embed customer insights and feedback loops into strategy formulation to ensure our offerings and experiences are deeply aligned with what matters to our customers and their evolving expectations.
- Help redefine our commercial operating model (people, process, and technology) to support our ambition of software and services leadership - ensuring roles, workflows, and systems are aligned to support growth.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience in commercial strategy, business planning, or go-to-market roles, ideally within B2B, consultancy or a similar strategic environment.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate analysis into clear strategic recommendations.
- Highly analytical, structured thinker with strong problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and influencing decision-making across multiple business functions.
- Demonstrated experience driving cross-functional transformation initiatives involving people, process, and technology change.
- A proactive, self-starting approach with the ability to independently and lead fast-moving pieces of work.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage audiences from operational teams through to executive leadership.
- Experience deploying or improving commercial governance frameworks, operating models, and performance dashboards is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI, automation, or digital tools for sales and marketing transformation preferred.
