International Governance and Control sits within International Card Services (ICS) which comprises all the issuing functions across 28 international markets excluding the US. ICS issues products to our Consumer and Commercial customers; the organisation is an integral part of the global growth strategy for American Express, offering differentiated products and services to drive growth and value through innovative products tailored to customer needs.
The objective of the ICS Governance & Control teams is to enable safe, sound and sustainable business growth, and to support our International Legal Entities to deliver on their control and compliance obligations. This role is central to uplifting our risk management practices across ICS Governance & Control through targeted culture, training, and communications initiatives. The Manager will drive colleague readiness, support change adoption, and ensure consistent messaging and engagement across markets and workstreams.
How will you make an impact in this role?
- Training Development & Delivery Responsibilities
- Own and develop the ICS Governance & Control training plan and calendar, ensuring alignment with milestone timelines and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Workstream Representatives / Legal Entity Governance Teams to identify training needs.
- Design and deliver modular, scenario-based training formats to a variety of stakeholder audiences (e.g., eLearning, instructor-led, microlearning, various band levels).
- Ensure translation, accessibility, and Workers Council compliance for all training materials where applicable.
- Culture Strategy & Engagement
- Co-develop and execute our risk management culture uplift strategy for ICS, aligned with enterprise values and risk mindset goals.
- Partner with Workstream Leads / Representatives, Legal Entity Governance Teams, and CA&C to localise cultural messaging and ensure relevance across markets.
- Facilitate multiple forums/meetings with approved content and talking points.
- Launch culture/engagement check-ins to monitor sentiment, readiness, and adoption.
- Communications & Messaging
- Develop and maintain the ICS risk management uplift communications framework, including newsletters, stakeholder updates, and leadership briefings.
- Coordinate with enterprise teams to ensure consistency across enterprise messaging and branding.
- Design and manage content for the Guardian SharePoint / central reference point for ICS.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience in communications, training design, or culture transformation within a regulated environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to translate complex risk and governance concepts into accessible formats.
- Familiarity with Guardian, ICS, and enterprise risk frameworks preferred.
