A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the London Borough of Merton is seeking a dedicated Unqualified Teacher or Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to lead its small Inclusion Base from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with a group of four pupils, providing tailored learning experiences that enable each child to thrive both academically and socially.

The successful candidate will take ownership of planning engaging learning activities, supporting emotional regulation, promoting independence and working closely with the SENCO, class teachers and families to ensure every child reaches their potential. The role includes:

  • Leading the day-to-day provision within the Inclusion Base.
  • Planning and delivering personalised learning for a small group of pupils.
  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including communication, interaction and social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Monitoring progress and contributing to individual support plans.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff, the SENCO and external professionals.
  • Creating a calm, structured and engaging learning environment that promotes confidence and independence.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with primary-aged children with SEND.
  • Hold an HLTA qualification or have significant experience in a similar role (applications from experienced unqualified teachers are also welcomed).
  • Be confident planning and adapting learning to meet individual needs.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Be patient, resilient and passionate about inclusive education.
  • Have excellent communication and organisational skills.
