A skilled, time‑served manual machinist with grinding, turning and balancing skill sets. A self‑starter who is comfortable working within a team and on their own. A sound awareness of working in a varied, fast‑paced environment. Experience in aviation and/or military desirable.

Main Duties / Responsibilities

  • Must be able to work to fine tolerances and understand engineering drawings.
  • Experience on Jones and Shipman Machines (advantageous).
  • Cylindrical grinding.
  • Surface grinding.
  • Bore grinding.
  • Milling.
  • Linishing.
  • Fettling.
  • Lathe work.
  • General bench fitting.
  • Ultrasonic cleaning.
  • Continuously review processes and recommend or implement improvement activities.
  • Highlight any manufacturing engineering changes to the Team Leader (e.g., updates to batch travellers/routings, drawings or test procedures).
  • Ensure all Health & Safety procedures are complied with and, in consultation with the management team, ensure all equipment is safe to use, calibrated and regularly maintained.
  • Ensure time attendance system is kept up to date and accurate for the cell with all relevant paperwork in place.

Other Responsibilities / Non‑essential Functions

  • Maintain a tidy working environment.
  • Wear personal protective equipment, which will be provided, and use it when required.
  • Participate in any improvement activity that affects your job performance.
  • Undertake all other reasonable requests made by the role manager/acting manager or directors.
  • When department staff attendance is reduced, be flexible and provide support outside of normal tasks to ensure customer satisfaction.
