Working closely with the Production Manager and Planner, take ownership for scheduling work through the cell area of responsibility and provide leadership for the people in that area. Be responsible for monitoring manufacturing performance against agreed SQCDP metrics using best practice. Take responsibility for organising and providing where necessary all required training within their area and take the active lead in monitoring and guiding their team on business performance and information.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, guidance and coaching for cell employees on a day-to-day basis.
- Provide leadership to team members to realise the cell objectives and production targets.
- Record, monitor and advise on production performance as a part of the SQCDP metrics.
- Ensure all Health & Safety procedures are complied with.
- Assist with the analysis of production data to help determine root causes to problems and be pro-active in helping to solve them.
- Ensure training is identified as a requirement of the roles within the cell and on the skill matrix.
- Act as 5S Champion / CI lead for the cell.
- Undertake daily stand-up meetings (DSUM’s) with the cell, ensuring that SQCDP metrics are met.
- Undertake regular personnel development reviews with reports.
- Provide first pass support of scrap analysis processes.
- Justify overtime working in line with department budget and Production Manager.
- Ensure time attendance system is kept up to date and accurate for the Cell with all the relevant paperwork in place.
- Champion cell contained problem solving exercises.
- Liaise with Operations management as an integral part of the planning process.
- Deputise for the Production Manager when called upon.
Other Responsibilities/Non-essential Functions
- Maintain as best as is possible a tidy working environment.
- Own non-conforming product to the point of material review board decision.
- Undertake all other reasonable requests that are made by the role manager or Directors.
- At times of reduced department staff attendance, provide support outside of the normal tasks of the job to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Occasionally take on ad hoc duties which includes, but is not limited to training, department associated tasks and brief secondment to other departments.
Limits Of Fiscal/Management Authority
- Sign off purchase orders in line with the financial guidelines.
- Not permitted to change Business Management System processes, procedures and guidelines without formal approval but expected to make recommendations.

- Adhere to Health and Safety requirements at all times.
- Bring to the attention of their manager any issues that could potentially affect the business, regardless of how small they may seem at the time.
