Operations Supervisor – Plating & Peening

Role Overview

  • Lead and deliver daily Plating and Peening operations, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient surface treatment of landing gear components.
  • Accountable for throughput, production schedule achievement and on‑time delivery.
  • Own training, quality, safety, compliance and continuous improvement in line with Part 145 and QEHS requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise and control operations to meet safety, quality, cost and delivery targets.
  • Optimise schedules, capacity and flow to maximise efficiency and throughput.
  • Identify risks, constraints and bottlenecks, implementing effective recovery plans.
  • Lead daily tier meetings, handovers, visual management and weekly production reviews.
  • Manage labour efficiency using ERP data, labour bookings and performance dashboards.
  • Ensure correct use, calibration and maintenance of all plating and peening equipment.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and environmental control standards.
  • Identify, justify and support capital and plant investment requirements.

People & Culture

  • Recruit, onboard, train and performance‑manage operational teams.
  • Maintain skills matrices, training records and succession plans.
  • Lead teams positively through change and continuous improvement activities.
  • Role‑model AEM behaviours and build strong cross‑functional relationships.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Champion lean, 5S, GEMBA and Kaizen activities.
  • Proactively manage hazards, unsafe acts and operational risk.
  • Lead plating‑specific risk assessments and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure full compliance with Part 145, SMS, Quality and QEHS standards.
  • Investigate non‑conformances and drive effective corrective and preventative actions.

Skills, Experience & Attributes

  • Engineering or aerospace manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Working knowledge of electroplating processes (Chrome, Nickel, Silver, Cadmium).
  • Strong lean capability and high digital competence (M365, ERP, Power BI, AI tools).
  • Results‑driven, detail‑focused, confident communicator able to perform under pressure.
