The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our Engineering team in Ramsgate. This role will play a key part in supporting production operations, introducing new repair and overhaul capabilities, improving manufacturing processes, and driving continuous improvement across our aerospace MRO environment.
Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality and Production teams, you will be responsible for developing efficient manufacturing solutions, designing tooling and fixtures, supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, and delivering sustainable process improvements that enhance safety, quality, delivery and cost performance.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys combining hands‑on manufacturing support with project‑based development work in a highly regulated aerospace environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Engineering & Production Support
- Provide day-to-day engineering support to production and repair operations.
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing and process‑related issues through structured problem‑solving techniques.
- Create, review and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, process specifications and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with approved technical data, regulatory requirements and customer specifications.
- Support engineering investigations, concessions and non‑conformance activities.
- Partner with Operations teams to improve production flow, reduce waste and increase efficiency.
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Support the introduction of new products, repairs and overhaul capabilities into the business.
- Evaluate aircraft components and assemblies to identify manufacturing and repair solutions.
- Lead or support capability development projects from concept through to operational implementation.
- Develop manufacturing methods, tooling and production processes to support new capabilities.
- Facilitate the successful transfer of new processes, products and repairs into production.
Tooling & Process Development
- Design and develop tooling, fixtures, test equipment and manufacturing aids.
- Support reverse engineering activities as part of capability expansion projects.
- Conduct engineering analysis and validation activities to ensure tooling and process effectiveness.
- Improve existing manufacturing methods through process optimisation and automation opportunities.
- Apply industrial engineering principles to establish standard times and identify productivity improvements.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives across the facility.
- Participate in:
- Kaizen events
- GEMBA walks
- 5S activities
- Continuous improvement projects
- Change management initiatives
- Use data and performance metrics to identify opportunities to improve quality, cost and delivery performance.
- Conduct root cause investigations and implement robust corrective and preventive actions.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety (QEHS) policies and procedures.
- Support internal and external audits where required.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and technical documentation.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with aerospace quality and regulatory standards.
About You
Essential Experience & Skills
- Experience in a Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer, Process Engineer or similar engineering role.
- Experience within aerospace, aviation, MRO, defence, automotive, medical devices or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
- Experience supporting production and resolving manufacturing issues.
- Knowledge of engineering drawings, technical documentation and manufacturing methods.
- Proven experience in root cause analysis using methodologies such as:
- FMEA
- 8D
- 5 Why
- Experience designing tooling, fixtures, jigs, test equipment or manufacturing aids.
- Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software (Fusion 360 preferred).
- Experience using engineering analysis tools such as FEA.
- Strong project management, planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to utilise AI tools to improve productivity, engineering decision‑making, work quality and cost efficiency.
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience within aircraft component repair, overhaul or MRO operations.
- Knowledge of aerospace regulations and quality standards.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement experience.
- Experience introducing new products or processes into production environments.
