Job Title: Senior First Line Manager
Location: Thetford, IP24 3QS
Hours per week: 40 hours per week
Days/Times of work: Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm
Salary: £38,000 – £40,000

We currently have an opportunity to join our fast-paced pharmaceutical supply chain and be a key player in serving millions of patients across the UK and shaping our company culture. We’re seeking an experienced First Line Manager to join us at our CDC in Thetford to effectively manage all aspects of the Transport/Cross Deck operation in order that efficiency and people management is maximised and the best results are achieved.
This is a key role which will be responsible for ensuring efficient operational and financial running of the Cross Dock Centre through effective leadership and management, to remain within corporate guidelines and agreed budget whilst ensuring excellent customer care. The Senior First Line Manager will act as a Leader within the site, driving the correct behaviours and as result delivering continuous improvement.

All sounding good so far? Fantastic! Here’s an idea of what you’ll be doing on a daily basis:
- Ensure that costs are contained within the monthly budgetary limits.
- Ensure contractual KPI’s are monitored and achieved.
- Ensure all aspects of customer care are maintained to achieve customer satisfaction.
- Monitor productivity performance and agreed KPIs with CDC Manager in all areas of responsibilities and ensures targets are met or exceeded.
- Ensure the maintenance of the delivery fleet in line with regulatory bodies and company policies.
- Ensure that the CDC meet all H&S requirements and Direct Reports are aware of their responsibilities.
- Ensure that statutory requirements of all regulatory bodies are complied with.
- Monitor compliance to standard operating procedures.
- Provide effective leadership and motivation through regular team briefings.
- Provide prompt feedback to queries raised by other departmental managers and acts swiftly to warehouse service issues raised by customers.
- Recruit, train and develop all direct reports, maintaining appropriate liaison with Human Resources department, with a view to support site succession plans.
About You….
Here’s the kind of person that would fit us best:
We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills and the ability to build effective relationships to drive individual performance. You must have proven demonstrable experience within a similar role with a successful track record in leading through change and transformation.
You will come with experience of leading a large team including a transport management team. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also key as is experience in managing a large fleet end to end, ensuring safety and compliance.
You will be driven and tenacious with knowledge of continuous improvement and must have a demonstrable track record of developing your team with a focus on succession planning. You will have a full working knowledge of all Fleet and warehouse procedures and all audit trails. Experience of working in a unionised environment is also useful.
