Job Purpose

The Loading Supervisor is responsible for the day‐to‐day management of the loading operation across the business, ensuring operational efficiency, high performance, and effective people management. The role ensures agreed quality, service, safety, and compliance standards are consistently met in line with Alloga UK requirements, client expectations, and governing bodies. The role also deputises for the Loading Manager during periods of absence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all direct reports adhere to Company Health & Safety policies and standards at all times.
    • Take responsibility for Health & Safety across all operational areas.
    • Ensure all accidents, incidents, and near misses are reported immediately with required documentation completed.
    • Ensure operatives only use equipment for which they are trained and authorised.
    • Report any damage or defects to on‐site or road equipment or property to the Loading Manager and Facilities Manager.
    • Complete known Consignor training as soon as eligible.
    • Adhere to Department for Transport regulations relating to Air Freight Security.
    • Ensure all site access points are secured or supervised at all times, challenging unauthorised personnel.
    • Ensure operations comply with MHRA, GDP, GMP (where applicable), ISO standards, and company SOPs.
    • Maintain high standards of housekeeping at all times.
    • Ensure cold‐chain integrity and controlled drug processes are strictly followed.
  • Operational Management
    • Oversee all loading activities to ensure service levels, accuracy, and efficiency targets are met.
    • Ensure all loading, transport, driver, and customer documentation is completed accurately and on time.
    • Take ownership of daily and weekly Cognos Planners, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
    • Ensure department activity aligns with company policies, procedures, and client instructions.
    • Communicate effectively with the loading team and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
    • Encourage continuous improvement across all areas of the loading operation.
    • Identify and record operational errors, providing feedback and implementing corrective actions.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (desirable)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a warehouse environment
  • Sound knowledge of GDP and Health & Safety regulations
  • Understanding of Air Freight Security regulations
  • Good knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Experience operating RDT equipment
  • Trained in all relevant SOPs within 12 weeks of appointment

Monitor staff appearance, ensuring correct, clean company uniform and visible identity passes are worn. Manage sickness and absence in line with company procedures to maintain operational quality. Conduct return‐to‐work interviews for every instance of sickness absence. Conduct regular performance reviews and annual appraisals for contract operatives. Plan and allocate resources to meet operational, financial, and commercial requirements. Ensure all staff training is completed, recorded, and maintained on the training database. Discipline employees in line with the Company Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures. Ensure all HR and payroll documentation is completed accurately and submitted within deadlines. Create and deliver regular team briefings. Role model behaviours aligned with the company’s Guiding Principles. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by Management.
