Job Description: Where you’ll fit in & what our team goals are… We are looking for someone with a strong technology background and inclination to join our team, playing a key part in transforming our function through the use of technology, automation, data analytics, and process improvement. You will be part of Columbia Threadneedle Investments where the role sits within the Controllership function within Finance. The team is around 70 globally across UK, Luxembourg, India, Apac and North America. The function is responsible for "record to report" comprising revenue and expense accruals and billing through to the preparation of statutory accounts, regulatory and statistical submissions, and financial board reporting.

How you'll spend your time... The role will help shape the Controllership and Finance functions of the future and our journey to achieve these. The individual will contribute to and lead the identification, design, and implementation of automation opportunities across the Controllership function. Develop Python-based solutions to automate data collection, reconciliation, reporting, validation, and control activities. Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions to improve management insight and operational transparency. Support the adoption and development of new tools such as Microsoft Fabric including data integration, analytics, and reporting solutions and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI and Copilot capabilities, and identify practical use cases within Finance. Partner with teams across the business to design scalable reporting and data solutions. Establish and promote best practices around automation, documentation, governance, and change management.

The individual will drive continuous improvement initiatives to simplify reporting processes and reduce manual effort. Enhance controls through automation and exception-based monitoring. Support and lead implementation of strategic finance transformation initiatives. Document solutions and maintain appropriate governance over key processes and tools. Stakeholder management is an important part of the role. They will need to build strong relationships with stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Compliance, Technology, and Data teams. Translate complex finance requirements into practical technology solutions. Provide training and support to finance colleagues to encourage broader adoption of technology and automation tools. Act as a technology champion within the Controllership organization.

To be successful in this role you will have... Experience coding in python or using AI tools to code in python. Experience developing dashboards in business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau. Experience working in a Finance function. The individual must be inquisitive and a self-starter with a proven ability to deliver change and a desire for continuous improvement.

If you also had this, it would be great... Experience in financial services would be beneficial. Has a flexible attitude to work and can work well in a multi-tasking environment; Ability to manage multiple deliverables under tight deadlines. Familiarity with technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, Workday, Copilot, Power Automate (or alternate robotics), VBA and Alteryx, is advantageous, though not essential.
