We are seeking a Material Verification & Document Controller to work with a multidisciplinary team, providing quality control support through product and process verification, development of processes, procedures, and system implementation to ensure products meet quality standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
This role involves working directly under the Lead Metallurgist and supporting verification and inspection of incoming materials and in-process material certification through manufacturing, heat treatment, and welding within the metallurgylaboratory. Maintaining consistent laboratory practices and material acceptance processes in line with recognized standards is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support maintenance and governance of ISO 9001:2015 Management systems, ensuring effectiveness through audits.
- Collaborate with the metallurgy and quality teams supporting project delivery and quality governance.
- Manage customer metallurgy processes, systems, equipment, and standards compliance.
- Verify raw material and component certifications, interpreting material data in accordance with relevant standards.
- Review documentation for compliance with national and international standards.
- Support procurement and engineering in material verification, inspection, and testing processes.
- Manage discrepancies via NCRs and ensure traceability through SAP.
- Control defective items, maintain inspection records, and raise SDRs as needed.
- Participate in project, supplier, and customer meetings, providing updates on metallurgy issues.
- Monitor and report KPIs related to metallurgical performance and quality management.
Work Experience & Skills
- Experience with ISO 9001 and other standards like ISO, AQAP, Lloyds Rules, Defence Standards.
- Industry experience in metallurgy, heat treatment, and material testing.
- Background in engineering environments with quality control and inspection expertise.
- Ability to interpret material certifications per relevant standards.
- Proficient in reading engineering drawings, specifications, and control plans.
- Familiarity with manufacturing components such as gears, shafts, bearings, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor\’s/Master\’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Recognized training or industry experience in materials verification and metallurgy.
- Experience in the Marine and Defense industry preferred.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and standards.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on team, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and good communication skills.
