At Quest Global, we are looking for a Factory Layout Engineer at Derby which is a Hybrid role with 12 months of contract and Outside IR35, with initial few days travel to Bristol.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To create, optimise and validate the design and layout of the workplace from a single workstation through to a complete factory in-line with business requirements.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Collate data such as Product details, Operation Flow (manual/automated), Planned Production Volume, Capacity, Geometry of Factory / Boundary conditions, Work Center details etc.
- Analyse the data and draw Value Stream map, identify constraints, optimise movements and complete the product cluster suitable for intended Factory design.
- Demonstrate the development and application of cellular layout concept to support a focused factory design in line with business requirement.
- Carry out optimised Factory layout design considering improving ergonomics, safety, productivity, capacity and simulate the proposed design to reduce the lead time and increase Value added ratio.
- Use specific Virtual Factory layout simulation tools and resources (Digital data/Digital Twin) as appropriate to optimise and validate the results in virtual environment to ensure productivity, safety and quality.
- Carry out design implementation of layouts for focused factories, across different processes, Product clusters and volumes.
- Define and select appropriate customer process modules for use across operational boundaries or supply chains.
- Leading productivity and equipment improvement activities within a facility.
- Represent the Factory Design and Layout best practice within community of practice.
- Apply successful Factory Design model to several implementation projects across the business units.
COMPETENCIES & SKILLS
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of aerospace manufacturing engineering Processes, method of manufacture, Work study, Time study, Factory design and layout concepts.
- Well versed with Engineering & manufacturing drawings interpretation.
- General awareness of Manufacturing Systems (CAD, CAM, CAPP, Manufacturing Execution System, PDM, SAP) and plant layout (Product, Process & Cellular) relevant to the business.
- Have the ability to manage complex projects with multiple cross-functional interfaces, have good written and oral communication skills, and be capable of working with the minimum of direction.
- Working knowledge of Virtual Factory layout simulation and resources (Digital data/Digital Twin).
- Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity and ability to work with partners from within and outside, across different cultures and time-zones.
- Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment.
MS Office tools: MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project.
Software: CAD Tools (NX), ERP System (SAP), CAPP.
Simulation tools: Plant Simulation tools (Siemens), Dassault 3D Experience.
Product Lifecycle Management: Rivit, Siemens Teamcenter / PTC Windchill / Dassault Innovia.
